Singapore, August 5, 2021 (Thursday) – The Lee Kong Chian School of Business (LKCSB) at Singapore Management University (SMU) has been successfully reaccredited for five years by the EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), a seal of excellence that sets the school apart from its competitors internationally.
With members in 90 countries, EFMD is a non-profit organization recognized worldwide as the accreditation body for business schools, business school programs and corporate universities. It administers EQUIS, the leading international system for quality assessment, improvement and accreditation of business schools. The EQUIS accreditation compares schools in ten areas with international standards – governance, programs, students, faculty, research, internationalization, ethics, responsibility and sustainability as well as engagement in practice.
The accreditation process includes the submission of evidence of compliance with the standards in the various areas within the framework. Schools are assessed by an experienced peer review team made up of international members who hold senior positions in management education. After the review, the schools are awarded either a three-year or a five-year EQUIS accreditation by an independent accreditation body, depending on the strength of their systems.
Mr. Alfons Sauquet, EFMD Quality Services & EQUIS Director congratulated all re-accredited schools: “Congratulations to all institutions that have enabled them, through their adaptability and agility, to pursue their strategic quality goals in admittedly challenging times in society due to the ongoing pandemic. We hope that the EQUIS accreditation will have a positive impact on the development of schools with a view to a continuous pursuit of excellence in the future. ”
Lee Kong Chian Professor of Finance and Interim Dean at LKCSB, Melvyn Teo, said: “We believe that our strong reputation as a business school is due to a robust core curriculum, the global appeal of our programs, which facilitate the exchange with high-quality international partners, outstanding activities in faculty development, the international diversity of the faculties and excellent research progress undertake to achieve greater societal and administrative impact. We would like to thank everyone who was involved in this reaccreditation for their contribution to demonstrating the efficiency of the SMU’s management systems. “
