OXFORD, England and LANHAM, Md., August 12, 2021 / PRNewswire / – 2U, Inc. (Nasdaq: TWOU), a global leader in educational technology, and Saïd Business School, Oxford University, today officially announced the establishment of six new professional GetSmarter short courses on popular, market-relevant economic topics, from the “future of real estate” to “climate protection emergency preparedness”. This brings the total number of Oxford Saïd’s GetSmarter short courses since partnering with 2U began in 2017 to 18, with at least one more expected to be rolled out in the coming year. Also announced today is an extension of the partnership between 2U and Oxford Saïd through 2024, marking a continued collaboration to offer a range of high quality short courses on cutting-edge business topics.

The six courses, launched this spring and currently open for enrollment, last six weeks and are designed to provide flexible, high quality skills development programs to learners around the world. As with all GetSmarter Short Courses, these online programs help professionals and executives worldwide advance their careers and prepare for the many business challenges and opportunities ahead.

Courses officially announced today include:

“Our goal at Saïd Business School is to equip global leaders with the skills, perspective and background necessary to become truly dynamic leaders and create a stronger, fairer future,” said Sue Dopson, Interim Dean and Professor of Organizational Behavior at Oxford Saïd. “Our expanded partnership with 2U to create and operate these courses has been fundamental to achieving this goal, with more than 20,000 learners worldwide to date, and we look forward to meeting even more professionals in these increasingly important and to train more relevant business topics. “

As companies and governments continue to fight COVID-19 and prepare for the post-pandemic economy, business leaders are increasingly being challenged to develop innovations, strategies and solutions that will not only protect shareholders, but also companies, NGOs and organizations as leaders in social, ecological and economic justice. Acquiring the skills to react quickly to these trends and implement quick solutions is essential to success. In fact, according to a recent McKinsey survey, many executives reported moving 20-25 times faster than they thought possible during the peak of COVID-19, suggesting a sharp acceleration in the use of technology, digitization and new forms indicates that employment in all sectors will be the “new normal”.

“Today’s complex and challenging business environment requires executives to adopt new skills and knowledge in order to keep abreast of industry trends and training to help professionals around the world achieve their goals,” said Andrew Hermalyn, President for Global Partnerships at 2U. “The introduction of this expanded portfolio of short courses demonstrates Oxford Saïd’s continued leadership in digital education and commitment to innovation, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with this world-class global institution.”
