CORVALLIS, Oregon – Tim Carroll, who, as Dean of the Eberhardt School of Business at the University of the Pacific, prioritized outstanding student-centered learning, will become Sara Hart Kimball Dean of the College of Business at Oregon State University, effective July 30.
Carroll has been Dean and Professor of Management at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, since 2018. At Pacific, he led the development of a new strategic plan for the college, increased student retention and enrollment, and launched programs to meet student and employer needs, organized events to improve college-student communication, and expanded fundraising.

Our College of Business’ signatures are the outstanding learning experience it offers undergraduate and postgraduate students and its focus on diversity, equity and inclusion. Tim’s commitment to shared leadership will do him good as he works with faculty to develop these and other strengths. “
Prior to joining the University of the Pacific, Carroll was Associate Dean of Executive Development at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina.

In South Carolina, Carroll served as President of Corporate Solutions LLC, a private branch of the business school that promotes corporate partnerships to meet employer talent needs and promote experiential learning projects for students. He also led the school’s nationally recognized professional MBA program, leveraging technology and a blended learning approach to deliver courses in seven locations across two states.
Prior to South Carolina, Carroll was a faculty member at Georgia Tech where he developed innovative academic courses and partnered with others.
Carroll’s scientific expertise is focused on competitive strategy and organization. He has companies in the aerospace, apparel, banking, computing, construction, energy, engineering, media, mining, petroleum, pharmaceutical, rail, restaurant, and telecommunications industries, and several Advising government agencies and implementing leadership development programs. He has a Ph.D. in Management from Duke University.
He has also served in many advisory or board roles in the community, nonprofit, and business development.
Carroll is replacing Jim Coakley, who has been the interim dean of the OSU College of Business since summer 2019. Coakley is also the college’s senior associate dean of analytics and operations. He will continue in this role.
The College of Business was founded in 1908 and is the third most popular college in the state of Oregon with nearly 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled. The college has more than 60 tenure or tenure track teachers.
