US Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced today that LSA Strategies LLC, a media production and policy advisory firm based in Buffalo, NY, pleaded guilty to wire transfers and fraud before senior District Judge William M. Skretny Expect to be fined up to $ 500,000.

US Assistant Attorney Paul E. Bonanno, who is handling the case, stated that on June 6, 2012, Steven M. Casey organized LSA strategies under the laws of New York State. Between August 20 and September 19, 2012, LSA Strategies developed a plan to defraud a candidate (Candidate 1) running for the 60th District of the New York Senate.

Steven Casey provided consulting services to Candidate 1, including arranging for Company 1 to print campaign mailings. Casey asked Company 1 to increase each of its invoices to Candidate 1 by a certain amount. However, Casey did not inform Applicant 1 of the increase in the invoice amount, but instead made the Applicant believe that he was working on a voluntary basis. Candidate 1 was unaware that Company 1’s bills were increased to provide funds to Casey and LSA. After Candidate 1 paid the bills, Company 1 paid LSA the amount that increased the bills. In total, Company paid 1 LSA $ 8,283.59.

The plea is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation led by Special Agent-in-Charge Stephen Belongia.

The conviction is scheduled for December 1, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. in front of Judge Skretny.
