Beneficiaries of the Wema Bank’s first Wema SME Business School, have praised the novel and effective initiative and revealed that they have benefited enormously from it.

Another first for the bank, Wema SME Business School has provided micro, small and medium-sized enterprises with the basic management skills they need to run their businesses effectively and respond to challenges in an ever-demanding business environment.

The five-day free training program, held August 16-20 at the Sheraton Hotel Ikeja, Lagos, had 50 participants. You have been trained with a robust curriculum that spans the broad areas of finance, marketing and sales, leadership, technology, branding, strategy, innovation, and business transformation.

The moderators of the business school included Nigerian and international consultants from the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management Germany, Ernst & Young, Matt Anthony Consulting, IBFC Alliance and Kuhl-Cher.

Two beneficiaries, Emmanuel Elo-Irawo and Adesuwa Oguocha, praised the Wema Bank initiative and shared their experiences with the business school.

Elo-Irawo, who runs a frozen fish chain, said, “You blew me away because I wasn’t expecting much. I thought it was a forum where they’d gather us together and give us a piece of information or two. The sessions were very insightful and I now have more knowledge of how to run my business. Without such training, Nigeria will not develop and I am very happy to be a part of it. “

Oguocha, Creative Director at Suwa Couture, described the sessions as great. Her words: “I’m at a stage where I have to scale and I want to do things right. So far it has been an exposé. It was explosive. Yesterday alone, with the quality of what I had learned, I already started to make mental and written decisions for my business. The good thing about this training is that it is hands-on. You have room to voice your concerns and receive clarification. My advice to anyone who isn’t here is to apply for the next cohort. It’s worth your time. “

Commenting on the training, Arthur Nkemeh, Head of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs), assured Wema Bank that the institution will not let up to help MSMEs scale and grow their businesses.
